Electric Scooter vs Gas Scooter
Gas scooters have been popular since the 60s. In fact the design of them has changed very little since 1966.
The ongoing dispute as to whether the electric powered scooter or the gas powered scooter is best for your use seems to be heading for an impasse. But in everybody's interests, an understanding is reached - Both types of scooters have their own plus points and minus points and you should be buying a scooter which you feel is suitable for you. However, let us take a look at the salient features of both.
Speed - Speed is one of the prime factors you look in a scooter. It is generally agreed that a scooter can deliver you faster than a bicycle or, sometimes, a car. Cars get caught in traffic and often reach the destination much later than the scooter. But if you are looking for a fast scooter, the unanimous selection is on a gas scooter because of the inherent design and make up.
Use - An electric scooter does not require a driving license and can ply on city roads without any problem. However, if you require a scooter to ride on country roads or rough roads, a gas powered scooter will be the better choice. This scooter is designed to be used on these types of roads. So the user has to make the selection taking into consideration where he wants to use the scooter.
Cost and affordability - If you are looking for a scooter that goes easy on your budget and carries the promise of nil-service and maintenance costs, then your choice should be an electric powered scooter although owners or fans of gas powered scooters may argue otherwise.
Maintence: Here the Electric Scooter seems to be the winner. This type of scooter requires hardly any maintenance and can go on and on till you are tired with the scooter. On the other hand, the gas scooter requires regular maintenance which is a messy affair. However, with proper care the gas scooters can also be coaxed to give good service.
Service - If you are looking for a scooter which would give you years of trouble-free service, then the electric powered scooter is the better choice than a gas powered scooter.
Safety - This is an important consideration as your safety is of the utmost importance. During rain there is an inherent danger of slipping, for both types of scooters. One of the other problems that two wheelers have to face is starting problems. Gas powered scooters give less starting problems than the electrical one. While a gas powered scooter can be jump started, but in case of electric powered scooter, there is nothing of this sort, which can be done. Another factor which is in favor of the gas powered scooter is the engine noise. Any variation in the normal engine tone can warn the driver and put him on alert. Since there is normally no engine noise in case of electric powered engines there is no chance of you being warned in advance.
Another factor to consider is speed, in case of gas powered scooters there are more chances of you achieving high speed and over speeding can result in road accidents. However, the drivers of both the types of scooters should realize the need for safe and cautious driving.
While electric powered engines are totally eco-friendly, the gas powered engines are not.
So there is a need for regular tuning of the engines to keep the gas powered scooters pollution free.
Another factor to consider is smell. Gas scooters give of a very strong odour that gets into your clothes and is hard to remove.
